…. Appeals To PG, Others To Rally Round The Widow

Anambra State Government through the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare has issued a warning to the family of Aghaji, particularly Emmanuel Aghaji in Umuokwara Kindred, Amankwu Quarters Umuezeiyi village, Achina in Aguata Local Government Area against excluding their late brother’s widow, Mrs Chinelo Aghaji from participating in the burial of her late husband.

This warning came following a report made by the widow, Mrs Aghaji, alleging that upon her husband’s death, her in-laws took her two kids from her and forcefully ejected her from her house.

She also said that the matter has been reported to their kindred for peaceful resolution but her late husband’s brother Emmanuel Aghaji who teamed up with other of his siblings refused all forms of mediation and threatened to deal with her if she ever comes close to her children and the Aghaji family.

After series of interrogations and investigation , it was discovered that the in-laws had already fixed the burial date of the late Paulinus Aghaji without involving the wife.

They have also allegedly made all preparations and deferred all forms of peaceful meditation in the matter.

The Women and Social Welfare Commissioner, Mrs Ify Obinabo expressed disappointment over the development and assured the State government’s commitment to protecting the widows across the State.

Mrs Obinabo, however, urged the community members, President-General and Local Government Transition Committee chairman to rally round the widow and give her the necessary support needed in burying her husband.

She then warned that anyone who would stand in the way of the state government by excluding the widow from the burial of her late husband would face the law.

The burial is slated for this Saturday at Achina.
