Enyimba Striker, Chijioke Obaoma is gradually inching close to the top scorers gong after his brace helped the People’s Elephant’ to a resounding league victory against perennial rivals, Rivers United.

The galloping striker who also earned for himself the “man of the match” award was presented with a Nigerian Breweries PLC signed One Hundred Thousand naira cheque by the club’s Sporting Director, Ifeanyi Ekwueme and a representative of NBL

The tireless left footed striker who was full of excitement dedicated the award to his team mates and Officials of the club saying their main focus is to retain their title.

Enyimba FC who started the encounter like a house on fire missing begging chances were pegged back following a mix up at the back which allowed one of the ‘Pride of Rivers’ striker to take the lead in the first half.

The peg back however, didn’t put the Coach Yemi Olarenwaju side off as they piled more pressure on their opponents whom they had not beaten in over Six games untill Mbaoma was put through on goal which he coolly finished.

The striker returned from the break hotter to instantly profit and scored his second of the game from the pressure mounted by the trio of Joseph Atule, Balogun and Elijah “The Prophet” Akanni who came on for Ekene Awaziem, Chidiebere Nnachi and Chibueze Izuogu.

Elijah “The Prophet” got the two goals which condemned Rivers United as the Aba giants looked more menacing when ever they attacked with the ball attesting to their Gaffers promise of making Enyimba a fortress home and away.

The People’s Elephant will next be guest of league leaders in what seems to be the toughest ‘Oriental Derby’ in NPFL next Sunday at the “Cathedral” Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
