With a 3-1 spanking of NLO side Jaguar FC, Enyimba Int’l FC have booked a place in the 2024 Abia State FA Cup semi finals.

The Aba warlords had a smooth ride over the  Umuahia based side in one of the quarter finals decided on Thursday at the Umuahia Township stadium, Umuahia.

The People’s Elephant’ Assistant Coach, Olarenwaju Yemi  expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the game pointing out that the after the encounter that Enyimba approach every competition with the mentality to win.

The Enyimba assistant coach said that there is no little game as far as there is a cup at stake.

Joseph Atule’s brace (12mins, 72mins) and Ekene Awaziem (61mins) goal was enough to tame the efforts of the Umuahia based Jaguar FC as the 9 times NPFL Champions booked their ticket for the semifinals.

The Aba giants apparently used the game to fine tune their startagies ahead of their NPFL match day 27 encounter on Sunday against Kwara United in Ilorin who are struggling in the relegation waters.

Reacting after the tie in the capital city of Abia, Coach Yemi said his team will quickly switch gears and their focus on the NPFL game this weekend saying that the Afonja Warriors will not sleep over the encounter following their worrying position on the log.

“Yeah, that’s the game you know, FA Cup, I don’t think there is any small cup as long as a cup is involved.

“For us at Enyimba we want to win always even when we are playing on stone or water, we really want to win.

“For us I think we are in the semifinals stage now, this is done and dusted the focus now is on the weekend game against Kwara United in Ilorin, that’s all that matters now.

“At Ilorin we know it’s going to be a tough game cause they are fighting against relegation so I don’t think they are going to sleep over it but we are going to fight for the maximum points, we are going to fight for it.
