The Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo on Tuesday commissioned the first General Hospital ever to be built in a densely populated rural area of the state, Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area.
He also commissioned a 12km road abandoned by successive governments.

Recall that a day after his swearing-in ceremony in Awka, Governor Soludo embarked on an inspection visit to Okpoko where he assured to breathe life into the community.
Governor Soludo noted that the Okpoko intervention is in fulfilment of the promises he made to the people of Okpoko who were largely forgotten and abandoned by successive administrations.
The Governor stressed that what his administration commenced in Okpoko is just the beginning of a major urban regeneration agenda of his government, emphasizing that there will be better schools and free education for the residents, calling on the people to support his administration to succeed.
He reiterated that the enthusiasm with which he campaigned and won the election was borne out of a deep seated desire to wipe tears and transform the lives of the people, including people of Ogbaru local government area.
Speaking at the event, Governor Soludo recalled how his administration kicked off work with the dredging of the filth filled drainages in the area for a cleaner environment.
He informed the people that free medical outreach is already ongoing at the Okpoko General hospital which is nearing completion.
While promising to go back to formerly commission the hospital and the pipe-borne water, currently being test-run in okpoko, Soludo cited the ongoing intervention on the Atani/Ozubulu road, describing it as strategic.
While saying that his government is an administration with a deadline and no excuses, the Governor cautioned the contractor handling Ogwuikpele road to either deliver or leave the site.
In his speech, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze and the member representing Ogbaru Constituency One at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Nobel Igwe, said that the Okpoko intervention is a promise fulfilled.
The Governor who was accompanied on the commissioning exercise by his deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim and other top government functionaries, were treated to a rousing welcome by the happy people of Okpoko on arrival to the community.
