Tobi Amusan will kick off the 100m hurdles on Tuesday at the University of Ghana.

The 27 year old will be keen to successfully defend, for the second time, the title she first won in 2015.
Amusan ran a new 12.68 Games record to successfully defend her 2015 title five years ago in Rabat and will be looking to become the first sprint hurdler,
second Nigerian woman and third Nigerian in general to win an African Games track and field event three straight times.

This will be the third time Amusan will be gunning for a hat-trick of 100m hurdles titles in quick succession after she successfully defended her Nigerian
Championship title in Benin City last July in Benin City, Nigeria and the Diamond League crown last September in Oregon, USA.

The reigning world 100m hurdles record holder has only failed once to defend a title and that was at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Before that she successfully defended in 2022 the Commonwealth Games title she won in 2018 as well as the African Championships title she also first won in
2018.
