The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Mr Peter Obi, has hailed the media for their unrelenting efforts in carrying out their responsibility.
He however urged them to always uphold professional ethics for the benefit of society.
Obi stated this during the meeting of the Correspondents Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists( NUJ), Anambra State Council on Tuesday.
The former governor who was represented by his media aide, Mr Val Obienyem commended the efforts of journalists in deepening democracy, but tasked them not to relent in playing their roles despite all odds at a time like this.
He recalled how members of the chapel, and other journalists in the state assisted his administration when he was the governor of the state.
Obi further pledged continuous support for the media in the state.
Earlier in his speech, the Chairman of the Anambra State Correspondents Chapel, Chief Chuks Ilozue, commended the former governor for his demonstrable commitment in the affairs of his members and journalists generally in the state.
He hailed the cordial working relationship that existed between members of the chapel and the Obi government, stating that the chapel would maintain that cordiality.
