It was a historic moment for the Faculty of Education at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, as the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Charles Okechukwu Esimone, laid the foundation for an ultra-modern virtual classroom project.

The ceremony, held on Monday, February 12, 2024, behind the Faculty of Education New Building, was a significant step towards revolutionizing the learning experience for students and faculty members alike.

The initiative, born out of the Alumni Homecoming and Award Presentation Ceremony held on Thursday, May 11, 2023, aims to address the challenges faced by the education sector, particularly the lack of adequate funding.

Recognizing the importance of embracing technology in education, the Faculty of Education embarked on this ambitious project to enhance digital literacy and promote e-learning among its community.

During the foundation-laying ceremony, Prof. Esimone commended the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Vivian Ngozi Nwogbo, for her outstanding leadership and commitment to advancing the university’s educational infrastructure.

Emphasizing the significance of the virtual classroom, Prof. Esimone highlighted its potential to transform teaching and learning, ultimately increasing the employability of graduates.

The Dean, Prof. Nwogbo, expressed gratitude to the benefactors whose generous contributions kick-started the project.

She emphasized the need for continued support to realize the vision of a modern and technologically advanced learning space. As the Faculty embarks on this transformative journey, Prof. Nwogbo called for unity and collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the success of the project.

The foundation-laying ceremony witnessed the generous support of individuals such as Hon. Sam Igwedumma Nwofor, Mr. Christian Nzeakor, Pastor Dr. Okechukwu Okorji, Prof. Okwudiri Alvan-Ikoku Nwamara, Prof. Greg Obiamalu, Prof. Frank-Collins Okafor, Pastor Tochukwu Ubaezuonu, and Mr. Felix, who made significant donations towards the project.

Their contributions underscored the collective commitment to advancing education and empowering future generations. With the support of the university community and well-meaning individuals, the Faculty of Education is poised to lead the way in innovation and excellence in teaching and learning.
