The State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo has charged Awada Central Landlords and the residents of Awada to step up their efforts in ensuring that the community wears a new look.

Addressing the Landlords during a Town Hall meeting held at Awada Central Landlords’ Association Secretariat, Awada, Gov. Soludo, represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim noted that the Solution administration will surely be remembered by the works it did in the State.

According to the Governor, when they assumed office, the State was filled with filth and they swung into action to clear the mountains of refuse everywhere.

He noted that their second year is dedicated to work and sustainable development, adding that by March this year, his administration would have completed over 250 kilometers of roads.

The Governor enjoined communities to join hands with the State government to develop the state by rebuilding and maintaining our environment by first repainting the buildings, cleaning the gutters, and planting trees while the government works on waste evacuation.

The Governor announced a prize reward for communities that will be the first to implement the clean and Green Initiative by 10th of March, 2024 as N10Million for the 1st position, N5Million for the 2nd and N3Million for the 3rd position.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Environment, Engr. Dr. Felix Odumegwu called on the Landlords to halt the degradation and neglect of their environment by keeping their houses and environs clean and green.

Engr. Odumegwu charged the Landlords to plant Step trees or Achoko trees in front of their houses to enhance the beauty of their environment.

On their parts, the Chairman, Anambra State Urban Regeneration Council, Arc. Mike Okonkwo and the Managing Director of ASWAMA, Hon. Mike Ozoemene enjoined the Landlords to cooperate with ASWAMA in not only maintaining a clean environment but to restore the set-backs from the gutters and remove the projections that block the gutters so as to regenerate their environment and restore the physical glory of the high rise buildings in Awada.

Earlier, the President General, Awada Central Landlords’ Association, Chief Ernest Iwuamadi in his welcome address, pleaded with the Governor to look into the bad roads plaguing Awada Community especially Nwaziki Avenue, Isiokpo Street, Upper Nwaziki, Onyebuchi, and Orsumoghu streets to bring succour to the residents.

In a vote of thanks, the Vice Chairman, Board of Trust, Chief Ifeanyi Eze appreciated the Solution team for visiting Awada and assured that they will commence the beautification of Awada Community immediately.

The Town Hall meeting was graced by some members of the Igwe in-Council of Obosi, including Sir Chudi Ononye and Nze Obi Asidanya, who represented the traditional ruler of Obosi, Igwe Chidubem Iweka, and it featured reactions and interactive session between the Solution team and the Landlords.
