As part of his vision for ‘Project 200’, the Vice-Chancellor,  Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Charles Esimone, has disclosed that the institution is in talks with INNOSON Vehicles Manufacturing to produce cars for intra-campus Transportation systems that will be fitted with security gadgets.

Prof. Esimone made the revelation in a chat with newsmen at the weekend.

Prof. Esimone disclosed that cars that will operate within the campus as means of transportation in no distant time will be fitted with CCTV for security purposes and will operate with smart cards.

The VC informed that Students will buy smart cards that will be slotted in the electronic system of the car to admit the passenger which will ensure that the student doesn’t need to pay every time he or she boards the car as the purchase of the smart card guarantees the student’s boarding for the academic session.

He further disclosed that the cars which will be fitted with CCTV will guarantee maximum security as they will be monitored through a major CCTV control room.

Prof. Esimone revealed that his administration have signed an agreement with INNOSON and the company is already trying to customize those vehicles and put the necessary features in place for a seamless transportation system in the institution.
