Asaba 2023: Team Anambra Secures Fifth Gold, Qualify For 200 Metres Female Finals

Anambra State contingent to the ongoing 7th edition of the National Youth Games (NYG) have continued to showcase their sporting prowess at the games with addition of two more gold medals on Thursday.

The two Gold medals came through Goodluck Njoku who defeated his opponent from Delta State, Joshua Ehiziube in the finals of the male karate -50kg Kumite class.

The fifth Gold for the team came through the male Beach Volleyball as the Solution Kids saw off Team Delta by two sets to nil (21-19, 21-18).

In a related development, Team Anambra male and female Volleyball sides settled for Bronze medals in the third and fourth place playoffs against their Oyo State counterparts.

Chiagozie Ndukwe also secured a bronze medal in the male +50kg Kumite class.

In the track and field event, Lucy Nwankwo and Oluebube Ezechukwu both secured their passage into the finals of the 200 metres event. Nwankwo who ran in lane 3 of the Semi-finals Heat 3 finished tops in the race while Ezechukwu who ran in lane 5 of the Semi-finals Heat 2 returned second in the race.
