Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling on the Executive arm of government through the Managing Director of the State Road Maintenance Agency to commence palliative work on the failed portion at Oko spot along Ekwulobia -Oko-Ufuma-Umunze road.

The House passed the resolution during the plenary when the member representing Orumba North constituency,Mr Paul Obu in a motion of urgent public importance drew the attention of his colleagues to the bad state of the road.

He said the road had constituted a nightmare to the road users.

Mr Obu observed that a good road network was essential to the state that dealt on trade and commerce as its mainstay.

Contributing to the motion, the member representing Ogbaru One constituency, Mr Noble Igwe, explained that the failed portion had caused series of accidents on the road.

Mr Igwe was also of the opinion that the risk and hardship the passengers plying the road were undergoing could not be underestimated.

The member representing Njikoka constituency Two, Mr Jude Akpua, regretted that the failed portion would serve as an avenue for hoodlums to wreck havoc on innocent passengers along the road.

Our correspondent reports that the House which was presided over by the Speaker , Mr Somtochukwu Udeze adjourned to Thursday 27th July for plenary.

It’s a welcome call. However, it worries me why those describing a road connecting three local govt headquarters shouldn’t be kind enough to mention Ajalli in the description. If for nothing else, let strangers be informed that the road also leads to Ajalli in Orumba-North LGA.
