The Chief Executive Officer of BrainBox Sports Foundation, Mr Chinenye Akpuezeugo has disclosed that the ongoing BrainBox League will not be a one-off thing but will be nurtured to become an annual event.
Akpuezugo, who spoke through Ifeanyichukwu Nwoye, Manager, BrainBox Sports Foundation, also revealed plans to expand the scope of the league to national level.
“We are aware that most of the players play for different clubs. But we asked ourselves, what can we do differently.
“We decided to go to the local governments so that in the course of the BrainBox League, scouts and players agents can come and hunt for players. That’s our motivation in floating the BrainBox Football League”, Akpuezugo said even as the tournament enters match day two today, Friday, 12th May, 2023.
“On the long term program, the BrainBox League won’t be a one-off thing, no. We will make it an annual event.
“Besides, we also have plans to expand it to national level. In fact, our plan is to get the 36 states of the federation, including Abuja, to come down here at the Awka City Stadium, for the BrainBox League.
“We intend doing this immediately after the ongoing 2023 edition of the inaugural BrainBox Football League which is being competed for by the 21 local governments in Anambra as well as National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, team”, he explained.
