Ex Falcons Captain, Maureen Mmadu, Listed In 10-Man NOA Organising Committee

Maureen Mmadu, a former Super Falcons Captain, has been appointed into a 10-man Organising Committee for the 2023 National Olympians Summit.

The appointment was made by the National Olympians Association, NOA, President, Olumide Oyedeji, on Tuesday.

The Organising committee is headed by Lawrence Iquaibom with Ekuta Catherine Ewa as Secretary.

Emmanuel Babayaro, a former Nigeria international and 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games Soccer gold medal winner with the U23 Dream Team, will serve as co-chairman, Tijani Babangida, a former Super Eagles winger, Victor Ikpeba, veteran broadcaster Hamed Adio, Gloria Obajimi, Fatima Yusus and Ruth Obaifor are other members of the Organising committee.

The 2023 edition of Nigeria Olympians Summit is billed to take place in July, 2023.

The inaugural edition of the Olympians Summit was held in 2021 in Abuja and was adjudged to be a huge success.

The Annual General Assembly, AGA, agreed a bi annual date for the event, thus, ensuring that 2023 became the date for the second gathering of the only Association of champions and the congregation of the finest athletes ever produced by Nigeria.

The NOA President charged the committee to raise the bar from the inaugural summit very high and give our great Olympians a summit to be really proud of.

He further reiterated his commitment towards supporting the committee with whatever is needed to make their task a resounding success even as he remains proudly confident owing to the calibre and class of the members of the committee.

The committee shall perform its task in synergy with the National Executive Council of the NOA and in consultation, shall constitute several other sub-committees as may be deemed necessary to achieve this All Important Nigeria Olympians Summit.

 

Mmadu is also a former Super Falcons Assistant Coach during the reign of expatriate gaffer, Thomas Thenneby.
