As the 2022 FIFA World Cup kicked off on Sunday in Qatar, Wakawaka Sports Extra, has began a daily update on the World Cup on Radio Nigeria Heartland FM Owerri.
The program which debuted on the first day of the 2022 World Cup, featured former Africa Footballer of the year, Coach Emmanuel Amuneke of Zesco United of Zambia. He took a look at the five teams representing Africa at the world cup.
The former Nigeria International believes the 2022 world Cup in Qatar, will offer the opportunity to African teams to redeem themselves.
While speaking on the readiness of African teams, the former Africa Footballer of the year said African teams needs consistency and stability to grow in the game.
He charged the teams to improve their game by being tactical in their approach and cohesion to manage their opponents adding that there is a whole lot of expectations on them.
He said: “There is a lot of expectations from the African teams looking at the last world cup that took place in Russia where non of the African teams were able to make it to the group stage. They were all eliminated.
“I think this world cup in Qatar is another great opportunity for the teams representing Africa. It’s also important to have that consistency, stability and the need to grow as a continent.
“It is true that we have great players that are doing well in their respective clubs in Europe but of course world cup is not individual based quality. There are a whole lot of factors. Both advantages and disadvantages that comprises a team to be a quality team.
“The direction the African teams needs to look at is how can they have more cohesion in their games. From tactical point of view, the ability to manage the game to their own level and the capacity for them to withstand. We hope we are able to move steps higher. Let’s just hope the African teams will be in a better position to compete in Qatar.” He concluded.
The five minutes daily update is designed to give the listener results and fixtures of games that are coming; backed up by a strong personality interview that will last till the end of the tournament.
This 2022 FIFA World Cup update is fully sponsored by Ikenga Jonjude Okere, leader Impact Imo Organization and member Obi-datti Presidential campaign organization.
