A minute silence was observed in Awka City Stadium today in memory of sports personnel who had lost their lives.
The event took place during the NPFL match Day seven between Rangers and Heartland.
Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu of Rangers and Coach Christian Obi of Heartland with DSP Dunku Danboyi representing the military laid the wreath.
The remembered persons include but not limited to Eghomwanre ‘Omale’ Aimanmwosa, Uche Ikeogu, Uche Onyeka Atura Anatoronye Anas, Captain Amaechi, the co-pilot, Captain Chinedu Ogbonna and an air steward, Obiageli Ezeh, Andrew Nwodu, Mike Onyemechara, Godwin Achebe Ernest Ufele, Aloysious Ikem Atuegbu aka blockbuster, Totty Okoro Totty, Henry Obiekwu, Nwabueze Nwankwo aka bulldozer, Kenneth Ilodigwe a,k,a Onye Egwu, Kelechi Emetole aka Caterpillar, Shedrack Ajaero, Stephen Okechukwu, Bamidele Ezugha aka Agarimojo, Sam Okoye, Ifeanyi George Onwubiko amongst others.
