Tension In Obiano’s Community, As Gunmen, Police Clash

Tension is mounting in Aguleri, Anambra state, the country home of ex Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano following the gunmen invasion of the community.

Information has it that the uknown gunmen who stormed the community about 11:00am engaged the security operatives in a gun duel that lasted for about one hour, Sunday morning. They did similar thing on Saturday

Though no life was lost in the gun duel, sources said that some policemen as well as gunmen were heavily injured.

The reason for the invasion was not yet clear as at the time of filing this report, but it was said to be cult related.

Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga debunked claims that Policemen were injured, stating that the invaders were not gunmen but some cult groups

He added, “The situation has been brought under control, on the directive of the Commissioner of Police , Echeng Echeng.

“The deputy commissioner of Police in charge of operations, led police operatives to the scene and prevented the youths from attacking the police station.

“We have made some arrests, infact, over 15 persons and recovered some dangerous weapons.

“Meanwhile other means of resolving the conflict is in place and that is, to hear from the aggrieved youths.

“We have also intensified patrols in the area, aimed at enhancing peace and safety.

He also said that additional details would be released later.
