A non-profit organisation, Sir Emeka Offor Foundation (SEOF), has donated a brand new trophy to Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

According to statement from the FCT SWAN Secretariat, the trophy, the second in three years is in support of SWAN FCT annual week event which kicks off Saturday November 19, 2022.

Presenting the trophy at his office in Abuja, Founder of SEOF and renowned global Philanthropist, Sir Emeka Offor, described sports as a unifying force needed to preach peace and advance the course of human existence in any society.

Sir Offor who revealed how he engages in daily physical exercise through aerobics, gym and work out, enjoined Nigerians to embrace sports as a veritable tool for enhanced living amidst several strenuous economic and political happenings in the country.

He then commended the leadership of SWAN FCT for initiating a programme which encourages its members to always make out time out of their tight schedule to exercise and bond.

Talking about the trophy, Sir Offor, who is also the chairman of Chrome Group, said, “I must commend SWAN leadership for its good works. I’m not just presenting this trophy alone, there’s an amount that has been pledge to redeeming the cup that will be paid to go along with the cup.

“Aside that, if they’re things that’ll support this association to ensure they’re comfortable and conduct this tournament under a better atmosphere, we’ll support. Because your goals and objectives are in line with what our foundation is doing.”

The Chief of Staff of SEOF, AIG Chris Ezike (Rtd), who highlighted the objectives and many achievements of the Foundation said it has continued to drive effective healthcare, humanitarian and educational services.

AIG Ezike however, assured of the Foundation’s readiness to partner organisations or groups with similar interests and programmes with a view to making the society better.

Receiving the trophy, SWAN FCT Chairman, Mr. Ndubueze Chidoka, thanked Sir Emeka Offor for his unwavering commitment in putting smile on the faces of Nigerians and steady partnership with the sporting media.

“We want to say thank you so much. If other philanthropists will emulate Sir Emeka Offor, this World will be a better place.

“I’m not surprised with what he’s doing now, this will be the second trophy he’s donating to SWAN after NTA retired the first one for emerging champions on three consecutive occasions.”

The SEOF established in the 1990’s has been daily engaging in changing lives including offering educational scholarship and free medicare.

Recently, the Foundation visited flood ravaged areas in Nigeria and donated relief materials and cash worth millions of naira.

The 2022 SWAN week programme which kicks off on Saturday with Walk and Jog, Health Talk and Handball contest is scheduled to hold between November 19 and 25 inside the Moshood Abiola National stadium Abuja.

Already, participating teams and individuals are talking tough ahead of the competitions.
