Nigeria is making a strong and commendable impression at the ongoing Confederation of African Football (CAF) Match Commissioners Workshop currently taking place in Cairo, Egypt.

The country is ably represented by a distinguished delegation that includes Dr Mohammed Sanusi, Aisha Falode, Ruth David, and Babagana Kali. Each member brings a wealth of experience and deep administrative insight, reinforcing Nigeria’s longstanding commitment to football development on the African continent.

The high-level workshop, organized by CAF, is part of strategic preparations for the 2026–2028 football cycle. It is designed to equip Match Commissioners with updated knowledge and modern tools required to effectively oversee matches across CAF competitions, including flagship tournaments such as the Africa Cup of Nations and inter-club championships.

Key sessions at the workshop focus on critical areas such as match organization, regulatory compliance, officiating standards, safety protocols, and integrity in football administration. Emphasis is also placed on aligning African football operations with global best practices, particularly those recommended by FIFA, to ensure consistency, transparency, and professionalism across competitions.

Nigeria’s participation underscores its influential role in shaping football governance in Africa. The delegation is actively engaging in discussions, knowledge exchange, and technical sessions aimed at enhancing capacity and strengthening institutional frameworks within the game.

The workshop also serves as a collaborative platform for member associations to share experiences, address emerging challenges in match supervision, and adopt innovative approaches to competition management in an evolving football landscape.
