The Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) held its 2026 Annual General Assembly at East End Hotel, Awka, on Friday, February 6, 2026.

The event brought together stakeholders to review the state of football in the state and chart a way forward.

The assembly congratulated Governor Charles Soludo on his re-election victory and appreciated his administration for including football in the Onwa Dezemba Yueltide celebrations.

The Congress also expressed gratitude to Chief Dr. Polycarp Emenike, CEO of Neros Pharmaceuticals, for his continued sponsorship of the Neros Anambra State FA Cup, which has entered its 25th year.

Additionally, the assembly thanked Chief Martin Nwabueze Akubudike for taking up the sponsorship of the Anambra State Football League, filling a gap left by other potential sponsors.

The Congress also acknowledged the Nigeria Football Federation, led by Alh. Ibrahim Gusau, for fostering an environment conducive to football growth in Nigeria.

The leadership of ANSFA, under Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi, was praised for its efforts in improving the game and promoting grassroots football development across the state.
The assembly approved the FA’s 2026 budget and confirmed the five-year suspension of two individuals, Mr. Ikechukwu Leonard Igbokwe and Mr. Chijioke Onyedika, from participating in football activities in Anambra State.

The Congress called on individuals and corporate bodies to invest in football infrastructure, development, and competitions, and passed a unanimous vote of confidence in the leadership of ANSFA, led by Chief Iloenyosi, for its exemplary stewardship in advancing football in the state.
