El-Kanemi Warriors FC secured a crucial away 1-0 victory over Bayelsa United in the MatchDay19 Nigeria Premier Football League match held on December 28, 2025.

This win is a significant end of the year gift as it comes at the end of the first stanza of the league, showcasing the team’s determination and resilience.

The match started at 3:00 p.m. Nigerian time, and the single goal was enough to give El-Kanemi Warriors the three points they desperately needed.

The stadium was filled to capacity with Bayelsa United supporters, while sons and daughters of Borno State resident in Bayelsa also turned out in numbers to cheer the Babagana Umara Zulum Boys.

As expected, El-Kanemi Warriors dominated proceedings, with the midfield partnership of Zayyad Musa and Ebuka Okoro controlling the tempo and dictating play. Their influence paid off just minutes before halftime when Mas’ud Danjuma picked out Sadiq Mohammed, who wasted no time in calmly slotting the ball past the Bayelsa United goalkeeper to give the mighty Warriors a deserved lead.

The second half resumed with renewed determination from the Borno Army. League standout goalkeeper Hakeem Otuyiga orchestrated play from the back, initiating smooth build-ups in a tiki-taka style that defined Kabiru Dogo’s tactical approach.

Bayelsa United pushed hard in search of an equaliser, but El-Kanemi’s defence stood firm. The solid backline, marshalled by Abdulaziz Yusuf and Godspower, effectively neutralised all threats. Meanwhile, Zayyad Musa and Ebuka Okoro continued to support attacking moves as El-Kanemi searched for a second goal, though no further breakthrough came.

At full time, the scoreline remained 0–1, sealing a well-earned away victory for El-Kanemi Warriors FC Maiduguri.

Head Coach, Kabiru Suleiman Dogo, expressed his delight as necessary adjustments after their last game against Enyimba prepared the team for the Bayelsa battle

“Alhamdulillah, after our game against Enyimba FC, we went back to the drawing board to assess our mistakes and make necessary adjustments. The boys responded positively throughout the week, putting in a lot of work during training sessions.

“Special appreciation goes to our wonderful fans for their prayers and support. They stand by us in sunshine and rain, and their energy continues to motivate the team.”

Also speaking, team Captain, Zayyad Musa thanked God for victory and injury free encounter.

“I thank Almighty Allah for the victory and for an injury-free game. As I said yesterday, we were going to win, and Alhamdulillah, we achieved that with a lone goal. I wish our fans were here to celebrate with us, but I know they are happy wherever they are. Thank you all for the support.”
