The Authentic Nigeria Football And Allied Sports Supporters Club has commended NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and Director-General Hon. Bukola Olopade for their outstanding leadership in Nigeria’s 2030 Commonwealth Games bid, showcasing bold vision and determination.

Although Nigeria didn’t win the bid, with Ahmedabad, India selected as the host city for the 2030 Commonwealth Games, ANFASSC’s said that its appreciation for the NSC’s efforts remains valid, given the potential benefits of hosting such events for Nigerian sports.

According to a media release by the club, the bid symbolizes a new awakening for our sports, a powerful declaration of intent, and a renewed confidence that Nigeria is prepared to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the world’s most established sporting nations.

“From the moment Mallam Shehu Dikko assumed the mantle of Chairman, with Hon. Bukola Olopade lending his expertise and passion as Director-General, the NSC has undergone a remarkable rebirth. Together, they have injected life, vision, and purpose into the nation’s sporting administration. Their combined leadership has not only restored faith in the system but also reignited a national dream: that Nigeria can and will become a dominant sporting force on the global stage”,

“Under their stewardship, Nigerian sports have experienced a resurgence marked by better coordination, innovative planning, and renewed international engagement. They have shown that sports can be more than competition; that they can be a tool for diplomacy, unity, and national pride’,

“Competing against India in the Commonwealth Games hosting process was, in itself, an affirmation that Nigeria’s sporting structure has matured. The bid projected an image of a country brimming with potential, ambition, and credibility. It told the world that Nigeria is ready to host, lead, and excel”,

“This effort has also rekindled national imagination; the vision of stadiums illuminated by green and white, of athletes draped in our flag, of fans filling arenas across the nation in celebration of unity and progress. It is the kind of vision that builds hope, not only for the present but for generations of Nigerian youth who see in sports a platform for achievement and national pride”

“For ANFASSC, this moment goes beyond a bid. It is a testament to belief; the belief that progress is built over time, through effort, persistence, and collective faith. The process itself is a victory, one that has placed Nigeria in the global conversation and reaffirmed our standing in the Commonwealth sporting family”,

“We commend Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko and DG Hon. Bukola Olopade for displaying exceptional leadership that mirrors the resilience of the Nigerian spirit. Their courage to dream big and act boldly is what the nation needs at this pivotal moment. They have reminded us that even when results are deferred, progress is never lost”,

“The Commonwealth Games remain one of the most powerful symbols of friendship, shared history, and global unity. Nigeria’s bid has strengthened our ties with this legacy, ensuring that our flag continues to fly high within this historic sporting community. Through this engagement, we have shown that we value not just competition, but cooperation; and that Nigeria is committed to the ideals of peace, partnership, and excellence that define the Commonwealth”

ANFASSC calls on all Nigerians to stand united and optimistic. Let us celebrate the strides we’ve made, the spirit we’ve shown, and the promise that lies ahead. Every milestone reached by the NSC reflects a story of transformation and perseverance; a journey that belongs to every Nigerian who believes in our nation’s boundless potential.

In the words of ANFASSC President, Prince Abayomi Ogunjimi, “The world is beginning to see what we’ve always known; that Nigeria is a nation of strength, spirit, and endless possibilities. The 2030 bid was not an end, but a beginning. Our story is still being written, and it will be one of triumph.”

As the journey continues, ANFASSC reaffirms its unwavering support for the National Sports Commission, its Chairman, its Director-General, and every dedicated hand working tirelessly to uplift Nigeria’s sporting landscape. Together, we will continue to champion patriotism, unity, and excellence.

“This bid is the foundation of a sporting renaissance that will inspire generations and position Nigeria where it truly belongs, among the world’s finest”, he said.
