Sore throats, sleepless nights and tough YouTube votes – that’s how Sarah Alpheaus fought her way to the crown at Bayelsa’s Got Talent (BGTT) Season 3.

Sarah didn’t even plan to enter the show at first. “I heard about BGTT from my friend Timi Turna. I was at the Season 2 finale just to support him,” she said. “A year later, I was on that stage myself – and I won!”

She admits the road was rough. “The auditions were amazing but scary. Everyone came ready. The organisers pushed us to the limit. We rehearsed all night. It wasn’t easy – but it was worth it.”

Time, she said, was her biggest enemy. “I had work to handle while competing. I even had a sore throat the day before the grand finale, but I refused to give up.”

When her name was called as winner, she says, “I was overwhelmed. My hard work paid off. A lot was expected of me, and I’m glad I didn’t disappoint.”

The hardest part? The votes. “Convincing people to watch a YouTube video isn’t easy,” Sarah laughed.

Sarah says she never chose singing. “I was born with it,” she said. Inspired by Nigerian star Seyi Vibez, she’s ready for the big stage. “BGTT gave me a bigger face in society and more respect musically. It’s a building ground. I’m going straight into Nigerian Idol and dropping my single soon.”

Sylvester Sede, CEO of Silverflame Media, says BGTT’s goal is simple: “We want to uncover raw talent across Bayelsa and the Niger Delta – music, dance, comedy, acting – everything.”

The show runs auditions across all eight local government areas, with 40 finalists battling it out over eight weeks of live shows. Since its launch, BGTT has uncovered more than 400 young talents – and Sarah is its latest star.
