Nigerian football legend and Enyimba International FC Chairman, Kanu Nwankwo, has called on fans and critics to support the club’s current restructuring efforts.
Speaking at the 2025 NNL Super 8 tournament, Kanu highlighted the significant challenges he inherited when taking over the club’s leadership, including a lack of proper office, players’ camp, clubhouse, dedicated training pitch, and feeder teams.
Kanu emphasized that his administration has been working tirelessly to restore professionalism at the club, citing the establishment of genuine youth teams and the ongoing construction of a formal club office and clubhouse.
He stressed that returning Enyimba to its former glory requires patience, support, and constructive criticism from stakeholders.
“Enyimba is a great club and should be the greatest in Nigeria, not just in terms of trophies, but in structure and professionalism. This board deserves commendation, not condemnation.”
Kanu’s plea comes amid mounting pressure from fans due to the club’s inconsistent performances. However, he remains optimistic that with sustained efforts and community backing, Enyimba will regain its dominance in Nigerian and continental football.
