UNIZIK Scholar, Engr. Prof. Jeremiah Lekwuwa Chukwuneke on Sunday, 4th May, 2025 celebrated his recent elevation to the rank of a Professor by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka with a colourful thanksgiving service.

The thanksgiving service which was held at the Living Faith Church (Winners’ Chapel), Oby Okoli Street, Awka, had the gathering of family members, teaching and non-teaching staff of UNIZIK and friends all in attendance.

Speaking at the event, the visibly elated Professor of Thermal and Biomedical Engineering fondly known as ‘Prof Jerry’ highlighted the significance of the thanksgiving service which was an opportunity to eulogize and express gratitude to God for seeing him through the academic hurdle with the result being the elevation to the zenith of his chosen career as a teacher par excellence.

Prof. Chukwuneke, one of Nigeria’s Youngest Professors disclosed that his present academic achievements and exploits would not have been attained without God and the full support of his family. The scholar advised anyone wishing to toe the line of the academic world to embrace hard work, determination, commitment and being focused as the variables needed in achieving the goal.

Prof. Chukwuneke expressed commitment in continuing his research and academic pursuits with renewed passion and dedication. He also pledged to mentor and inspire the next generation of academics and researchers, sharing his knowledge and expertise to make a positive impact in the academic world.

In his goodwill message from one of the notable dignitaries who attended the thanksgiving service, Former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of the institution and immediate past Special Adviser to the Vice-Chancellor on Academic Matters, Prof. Frederick Odibo while congratulating Prof. Chukwuneke commended him for his commitment and dedication in achieving this feat. Prof. Odibo noted that Prof. Chukwuneke’s professorship was not a result of lobbying or external influence but purely on merit through hard work, dedication and commitment.

On his part, Emeritus Professor Sam Nna Omenyi described Prof. Chukwuneke as a vibrant, young and hardworking man who rose to the peak of his teaching career passing through the crucibles. Emeritus Prof. Omenyi prayed for more elevations in all his endeavours.

Prof. Chukwuneke who hails from Alayi Community in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State is the youngest Professor in the state.

Highlights of the professorial thanksgiving service were entertainment and photo sessions by the celebrant alongside dignitaries, well wishes, associates, political office holders and captains of industries.
