Enyimba FC’s pint-sized dynamo, Joseph Atule, is back in the groove, and just in time for one of the most crucial games of the season.

The electrifying forward has rediscovered his goal-scoring touch, and his confidence is soaring as the People’s Elephant prepare to battle Lobi Stars in NPFL matchday 22 showdown at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.

Atule, who netted in Enyimba’s recent outings, has had a rollercoaster season, struggling with form at some point but now appears revitalized.

His recent heroics against Heartland have not only reignited belief in his own abilities but have also given Enyimba a much-needed spark as they look to bounce back from a disappointing run in both domestic and continental competitions.

Speaking exclusively with Enyimba Media, Atule exuded confidence ahead of the clash against his former club, Lobi Stars.

“Yeah, I must say I’m very happy that I’m back to my normal self and my scoring form is back. You know when you have issues disturbing you, you lose concentration and the ability to do the right thing. But now, I’m okay, and my scoring ability is in me. I know I can do much better.”

The diminutive but deadly forward, whose career has taken him from Kebbi United to stints in Egypt before returning to Nigeria, is no stranger to big moments. His ability to find space in tight areas, his quick feet, and his hunger in front of goal makes him a key weapon in Enyimba’s arsenal.

The match against Lobi Stars is more than just another fixture for Atule—it’s a battle against a side that once nurtured his talents. But there is no room for sentiments, as he is fully focused on helping Enyimba take at least a point from Bauchi.

“Tomorrow will be a great game, a strong one at that. I don’t think it should be too difficult because we are fully prepared and mentally sound. The boys have taken a decision to give our best here and try to get, if not the maximum points, at least a point here in Bauchi.”

The 9 time NPFL champions have endured a rough patch lately, crashing out of continental competitions and failing to hit consistent form in the league. However, Atule believes the team has learned from their mistakes and is determined to turn things around.

“Now that the continent is over, we have seen our mistakes—not just the players but the team as a whole. We are working on correcting them, and we know our best wasn’t good enough. We want to make amends in the league and get back to the continent to do better.”

“I know the fans are expecting so much from us, and there have been a lot of talks everywhere about our performance. But I can assure them that we will bounce back and make amends by doing better. They should not stop believing and should keep supporting us.”

Statistically, the numbers favor Enyimba. The Aba giants have won 13 of their last 31 competitive meetings with Lobi Stars, while the Makurdi-based side has managed only six wins, with 12 matches ending in draws.

Earlier this season, Enyimba emerged victorious in Aba, courtesy of goals from Ufere Chinedu and Eze Ekwutoziam, while Adebayo Waheed pulled one back for Lobi.

With Atule back in the groove and Enyimba desperate to climb the NPFL standings, all eyes will be on the little magician to produce another moment of brilliance in Bauchi.

The clash, which kicks off at 3 PM and will be broadcast live on StarTimes Channel 244, promises to be a thrilling encounter.
