Enyimba’s midfielder, Eze Ekwutoziam says he and his colleagues have put behind them the disappointing home draw against Niger Tornadoes on Wednesday.

The versatile midfielder speaking ahead of their NPFL match day 8 encounter against Elkanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri also said they are ready and hoping for a better result and mindful of Warriors unbeaten run so far.

Elkanemi Warriors FC will on Sunday at the Elkanemi Stadium in Maiduguri take on Enyimba FC of Aba by 3pm in one of the 2024/25 NPFL match day 8 encounters.

Both sides according to statistics have met each other 13 times since 2013 with the home side winning 3 times while the away side have 6 wins under their belt and 4 games ending in draw.

The Maiduguri side who recently won promotion back to NPFL last season as well as won the 2024 President Federation Cup has in the last five league games remained unbeaten with 4 draws and 1 win while The People’s Elephant had their clean sheet run dented by Niger Tornadoes in their midweek 1-1 draw as both teams last two games have all ended in draws.

Coach Yemi Olanrewaju Daniel of Enyimba FC will be without notable names, Daniel Daga, Imo Obot, Innocent Gabriel, Akani Elijah and Clinton Jephta who is with the national under 20 team in Togo.

Eze however is optimistic the team is reloaded and ready for the battle with the Warriors in Maiduguri.

“Yeah we are up against Elkanemi Warriors, we are back again after the second draw during the midweek games.

“We have left that behind us already, the players are ready and we are hoping for a better result.

“It’s not going to be an easy game, Elkanemi is still playing unbeaten.

“But this is Enyimba, it means more us and winning this game tomorrow (Sunday) will be a very big edge to us.

“We are looking forward to it and we have put behind us the draw in the midweek and we are ready to go tomorrow.
