Anambra State Contingent at the ongoing 8th National Youth Games (NYG) won her first gold medal and raked in more other medals on day three of the games.
The Gold medal came through 11-year-old Chibuike Oranye in the Poomsae Performance display of the Male Taekwondo event.
Taekwondo event also gave Anambra two more medals as Chibuike Oranye teamed up with Favour Nwakaeze to settle for a Silver medal in Team Poomsae Performance losing narrowly in points in a split controversial decision by the judges against their Plateau State counterparts who eventually won the Gold.
Favour Nwakaeze would put an icing on the cake as she claimed the bronze medal in the individual Poomsae Performance display in Female Taekwondo.
Elsewhere, Team Anambra Male Cricket side won a Silver medal in the One Day International (ODI) category in Cricket and will look to go one better when they kickoff their quest for glory in the upcoming T20 event.
In other events, Chigozie Rosemary Nwankwo booked a place in the finals of the 100 metres Female finals after finishing tops in a time of 12.24 seconds in the Semi Finals Heat 1 of the 100 metres for the Girls.
In Volleyball, Anambra State Female side defeated Team Delta 2-0 (25-21 and 25-9) in the preliminary stages while the Male team saw off Team Kaduna by two sets to nil (27-25 and 26-24).
