The management of Peter University led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Chukwuemenam Umezinwa, paid a courtesy visit to the newly appointed Acting Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Prof. Carol C. Arinze-Umobi
Speaking during the visit which was to congratulate the vice Chancellor and foster strong collaboration between the two institutions, Prof. Umezinwa felicitated with Prof. Arinze-Umobi on her recent elevation and informed her of recent developments in Peter University.
He also presented her with a document stating UNIZIK’s oversight responsibility on Peter University, as directed by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in 2022.
The FEC directive placed Peter University under UNIZIK’s supervision, with responsibilities including recruitment of principal officers, academic and administrative staff, and quality assurance activities.
Prof. Umezinwa called on Prof. Arinze-Umobi to enable the relationship between the two universities, thanking her for the contributions of UNIZIK staff to Peter University and requesting further support in areas such as students’ admission and human resources.
Responding, Prof. Arinze-Umobi pledged that UNIZIK will fulfill its responsibilities to Peter University, saying, “I know it is a responsibility for us to look over there at Peter University. Be assured that we will always do that. We will definitely not fail in that.”
The delegation from Peter University also included the Registrar, Mrs. Theresa Ada Enenchi; Director of Students Affairs, Rev Fr. John Mark Okafor; Public Relations Officer, Sir Chuka Nnabuife and media officer, Mr. Chinedu Oguaghamba.
Peter University is a Catholic institution approved by the federal government in 2022. It is currently admitting students for its third academic session in four faculties and 24 courses comprising nursing, law, software engineering, information sciences, mass communication among others.
