Nnamdi Azikiwe University Elects Comrade Samuel Eze As New SUG President

Samuel Messiah Eze of the Department of Building, Faculty of Environmental Sciences has been declared winner and President-elect at the just concluded elections into the Students Union Government (SUG) of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka for the 2023/24 academic session.

The returning officer and Dean, Student Affairs’ Unit, Professor Makodi Biereenu-Nnabugwu disclosed that Comrade Eze, polled a total of 1354 votes to beat two other opponents, Solomon Omachionu Offor of Agriculture Economics and Extension Department (1111 votes) and Emmanuel Ezechukwu of Department of Philosophy (154 votes).

The election which was held virtually on Friday, August 23rd, 2024, recorded massive number of votes cast based on findings from the Election monitoring room domiciled at the Students Affairs’ Unit.

In other results, Favour Chioma Chidi from the Department of History and International Studies emerged as the Vice-president polling a total of 1666 votes, Chioma Ohiaeri of English Language and Literature Department was elected as the Secretary General with 1302 votes, Queendalyn Ugonma Omeje from the Faculty of Law emerged as the Assistant Secretary with 1583 votes.

Francis Ajaegbu from the Department of Sociology and Anthropology was elected as the Financial Secretary recording 2386 votes, Hillary Onwuasoizu of Computer Science Department was elected as the Public Relations Officer polling 1317 votes, Patrick Onwuegbule of Civil Engineering Department polled 2447 votes to be elected at the Director of Welfare/Socials.

Favour Chinonso Ogidi of the Department of Parasitology and Entomology was elected Treasurer with 1332 votes while Favour Mmesoma Uchigbue of Human Kinetics Department polled 2345 votes to be elected as the Director of Sports.
