….Condemns Alleged Disrespect Of Its National President
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kaduna State Chapter has while condemning in strong terms the abduction of its members by suspected bandits late Saturday night in Kaduna, is demanding immediate safe rescue of the victims and family members unhurt.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Secretary Kaduna SWAN, Okpani Jacob Onjewu Dickson, made available to newsmen on Sunday July 7.
“We are saddened to wake up to a sad news of the violent abduction of two of our members, Alhaji Abdulraheem Aodu of the Blueprint Newspaper, as well as Alhaji Abdulgafar Alabelewe of the Nation Newspaper, who were both abducted alongside family members at their respective residences.
“The incident is disheartening and a development that should be condemned by all,” it said.
SWAN therefore, called on the Federal and Kaduna State governments as well as security personnel to immediately swing into action to ensure their safe return.
“We also call on all our members to intensify on prayers for their safe return,” it said.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna SWAN Chapter also frowned at an incident which reportedly took place at the Murtala Square in Kaduna on Saturday during the final of a national competition, where organizers disrespected their national president.
“We want to condemn in strong terms what we gathered took place at the final of a national competition in Kaduna, where our National President who is the number one SWAN member was disrespected by organisers.
“This should be the last time such should occur. As key stakeholders in the sports sector, we are warning administrators and organisers of events that we don’t take disrespecting our president lightly,” the statement said.
