Former Chairman, Gombe Football Association, Alhaji Gara Gombe has continued to call for a change in the technical arm of NFF despite Super Eagles performance at the ongoing AFCON.
He made his opinion on the issue public through a letter he titled Good Day To All Football Lovers Across the country.
The letter read:
My position on the SUPER EAGLES and our FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT Processes has not changed even if we win the World Cup.
The reason why I never joined in the Euphoria whenever we win a Match and also in the Hysteria whenever we don’t do well or loose is that we always tend to forget those things that are missing in our Football Developmental processes until we loose a friendly.
Those Developmental challenges are very much arround and whenever we win we forget them.
This AFCON Many Nigerians don’t believe in the Coach,the Team and the Management.But we are fumbling and wobbling improving by every game and we are happy,these happiness is temporary.We must work for a permanent Happiness.
Suddenly we forgot that PASEIRO is a bad coach,suddenly we forgot about Sadiq umar mess,Suddenly we forgot AHLAN is the chairman of Technical Committee,Suddenly we forgot our main saviour who kept us in this AFCON is a product of our local league.Short Memory is one of our greatest problem.
A Team that has some of the best FORWARDS in the world OSIMEHIN,CHUKWUEZE,AWONIYI,MOFI,SADIK,IHENACHO,ONANUCHU,MUSA,LUKMAN,SIMON,can not score goals at regulation time after 5 games is unacceptable.
Our last match against South Africa we do not deserve to win,they played better,the heroics of NWABILI our home boy not a Diasporan kept us to the last.South African played better and they no longer respect THE EAGLES Again.
Our Team had been progressing and improving by GOD intervention and individual courage and determination of the players.Our Defence is the Best in this AFCON.
Some paid agents in the Media have already started calling for retention of PASEIRO.God forbid.
Sunday is just arround the corner.We resume our prayers session.For me no Euphoria nor Hysteria,Win or loose.
Let us come back and Institute a Developmental programme.The South African Team has 8 of their players from SUNDOWNS in the local League PSL.We disrespect our own players from the league.we must change this mentality that only a Disporan or being a Diasporan qualifies you to play for the EAGLES.
1. Reconstitute the Technical Committee and give the Job to knowledgeable people,it is not a family and friends affair it is our game.
2. Replace Paseiro and appoint a local Coach and give him a five years Target.
3. Establish an NFA ACADEMY.
4. Strengthen the youth league of the NPFL.
5. Allocate a Quota for local league players in the Super EAGLES.
6. Introduce a monthly or bi monthly CHAN A and B Tournament.
7. Get a permanent Sponsor for the Super EAGLES And CHAN with a permanent BASE or CAMP.Many countries in Africa if not all have used FIFA MONEY and GRANTS to build a permanent National camps but in NIGERIA the money was stolen.
