One goal each by Philip Edeh and Godwin John in the early stages of the first half were all the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, required to guarantee them a maiden appearance in the final of the Governor Abdullahi Sule Inter-Security Agencies’ Unity Cup Football Tournament.
The Safety Personnel defeated the Nigerian Army 2-1 in the last Semi-Final tie played at the Lafia City Stadium on Tuesday evening.
In the tension-soaked clash, Sahad Dahiru scored the Army’s consolation goal, thirteen minutes before the break, with further actions by both sides yielding no result.
FRSC will slug it out against the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC who defeated NAYES 4-3 via penalty shootout in the other Semi-Final encounter played the previous day, in the final in a yet-to-be-announced date.
Both teams are making their maiden appearance in the grand finale since the beginning of the Competition in 2022.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army will square up against 2022 title winners, the Nasarawa State Agency for Youth Empowerment Scheme, NAYES, in the Third-Place Play-Off on the day of the grand finale.
