Successful Basecamp On Waste Transformation Excites CAPI, Others

Compassionate Advocacy for the Poor Initiative ( CAPI) alongside Western Union Foundation and Watson Institute have successfully concluded their Basecamp on the theme ‘ Transforming Waste into a sustainable Resource.

The event which was financially supported by organisations such as the Western Union Foundation, Watson institute, Youth Hub Africa, Nigeria Youth climate Preservation Network and CAPI was held on the 4th and 5th of December 2023.

The collaborating organisations successfully achieved it’s goal by training young activists, students and community leaders in life skills.

The Basecamp focused on empowering the participants on taking the knowledge gained in Waste Transformation, specifically in Agri-waste and plastic recycling back to their communities .

The camp also addressed the importance of transforming waste into sustainable Resources, the specific techniques used , such as producing briquettes from Agri-waste and generating interlocks from plastic.

The two day event witnessed facilitators and guest speakers such as Amina Sani Minal Western Union Foundation and Watson Institute fellow also co founder CAPI, Rukaiya Dambuwa Advisory board member UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, Prof Yusuf Founder D A.R.E , Ruby Rose founder CHC, Bilikisu Garba CEO of upcycling architech, Envuronmental Abdul Basit, and Joshua Ogar.

For CAPI, Western Union Foundation and Watson Institute, the involvement of such a robust team of guest speakers and facilitators further underscores the importance being placed on sustainability and environmental Advocacy.

Participants at the event say the Basecamp has thought them to further understand their environment and how to make better informed choices about the use of waste Materials.
