Jofrank’s Lone Goal Downs Enyimba In Lafia

A 23rd-minute strike from Jofrank Joshua condemned Enyimba International to a 1-0 defeat against Nasarawa United in Lafia on Sunday.

The People’s Elephant went into the encounter looking to bounce back from their home draw against Warri Wolves and started brightly, with Iyanda Tobi registering the first attempt early on.

Enyimba were denied a penalty in the 6th minute after Chidera Michael was brought down in the box, while goalkeeper Utum Godswill produced a brilliant save five minutes later to deny Austin Onyemaechi.

Jofrank broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute to put the hosts ahead. Enyimba responded with pressure and nearly equalized six minutes later, but Ganiyu Abiodun’s long-range effort came off the woodwork.

Coach Deutcsh introduced Joel Ezra and Wonah Williams for Obichere and Bonni to strengthen the attack, prompting three quick substitutions from Nasarawa United coach Mangut.

Utum made another crucial save in the 73rd minute to deny Alao Danbani, but despite late efforts from both sides, the scoreline remained unchanged until full time.

Enyimba will now host Kun Khalifat FC in a must-win fixture on Sunday.
