Nigeria’s leading shot put star, Chukwuebuka Enekwechi, has committed N950,000 in prize money for the men’s shot put event at the Athletic Heat 10th Anniversary Meet.
The meet is scheduled to hold on November 7 at the Yaba College of Technology Sports Complex, Lagos.
The sponsorship comes from the two-time Olympian, African champion and African record holder, as part of efforts to create more opportunities for field event athletes.
Under the arrangement, the winner will receive N400,000, second place N300,000, third place N150,000 and fourth place N100,000.
Enekwechi said the gesture was his way of giving back to the sport and inspiring young talents who are yet to get their breakthrough.
Athletic Heat CEO, Ese Oguma, described the commitment as unprecedented for field athletes in Nigeria and a major boost for the competition.
The AFN Media Committee Chairman, Maxwell Kumoye, said the partnership highlights the role established athletes can play in strengthening grassroots competitions.
The 10th Anniversary Meet will hold on Saturday, November 7, 2026, with registration closing on October 24. Interested athletes have been advised to register via A3Tickets.
