Michael “Hitman” Ani and two-time West African Welterweight Champion, Taiwo “Gentle Boy” Olowu, will headline the super-welterweight main event of The Street Rumble Season 2 at the Maracana Square, Ajegunle, Lagos, on Sunday, December 13, 2026.
This was confirmed by Match Makers Sports International, promoters of the event.
The bout, described as a long-awaited reckoning, was originally scheduled for April 20, 2025, but was called off after Ani sustained an arm injury in training camp a week to the fight, forcing his withdrawal and a lengthy rehabilitation.
Promoter and Chief Executive Officer of Match Makers Sports International, Mike Adeyemo, said the rescheduled contest will pit Ani’s quest for redemption against Olowu’s championship experience.
To add international colour to the event, former WBO World Heavyweight Champion and 1988 Olympic Gold Medalist, Ray “Merciless” Mercer of the United States, is expected as a special ringside guest.
Adeyemo said the headline bout will anchor a stacked fight card, with details of the undercard to be announced in due course.
“The stage is set, the date is locked, and the streets of Ajegunle are ready to rumble,” he said.
