The leadership of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) has expressed deep sorrow and shock over the passing of Mr. Lanre Macaulay, the father of D’Tigress player, Victoria Macaulay.
In a heartfelt condolence message issued to the press, the NBBF President, on behalf of the board and the entire Nigerian basketball family, extended deepest sympathies to the national team star and her family during this difficult period of grief.
The NBBF described the loss as a painful one for the entire sports community, noting that the federation stands firmly with Vic , who has shown immense dedication and passion while representing the nation on the global stage.
“We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Mr. Lanre Macaulay,” the NBBF President stated. “Victoria is a cherished and integral member of the D’Tigress family, and when one of us grieves, we all grieve. We recognize the vital, often unseen role parents play in nurturing the talents and dreams of our national athletes. We know that Mr. Macaulay was undoubtedly proud of the remarkable woman his daughter has become and everything she has achieved for Nigeria.”
The Federation urged the D’Tigress star and the entire Macaulay family to take solace in the impactful life Mr. Lanre Macaulay lived and the proud legacy he leaves behind.
“On behalf of the NBBF board, the technical crew, her teammates in D’Tigress, and the entire basketball community in Nigeria, we pray that God grants Victoria and her family the fortitude to bear this immense, irreplaceable loss. May the soul of Mr. Lanre Macaulay rest in perfect peace,” the statement concluded.
