The traditional ruler of Isulo HRM Igwe Clement Onwuka, over the weekend celebrated his maiden New Yam Festival on the throne.
Igwe Onwuka, the Igwe Ohazuru mee, Ogiddi 3rd, performed the joyous annual celebration at the Community Civic Center, Isulo. While the entertainment of guests took place at both the Civic centre and his palace.
The colourful event drew top dignitaries, traditional rulers, including Igwe C.C Okeke of Nawfija and the Igwe of Ajalli, important dignitaries, and top government officials.
The Mayors of Orumba North Council, as well as that of Orumba South Council areas witnessed the event.
A popular industrialist, Chief Ebuka Onunkwo attended with a heavy entourage and paid homage to the monarch.
Other notable individuals were present at the new yam festival celebration, include Chief Chidiebere Eze, the Omenife of Isulo. Other important sons and daughters, friends and wellwishers of Isulo community in the diaspora also returned home for the epoch celebration.
The visibly happy and highly elated Igwe Ohazuru mee in his remarks reminded the indigenes that Isulo community celebrates her New yam festival annually in September, which is the actual time of yam harvest in the land, not March.
He promised to rule isulo with love, progress, unity, and peace. He prayed for Almighty God to grant them long life, prosperity and abundant blessings. upon his people.
According to him, “Whether you are a reverend father, pastor, or traditional/community leader, we all share one heritage. We must therefore work together to ensure that isulo moves forward in progress and unity.
