All is set for the kick-off of the 2nd Edition of the Akubuike Energy/ANSFA Anambra State Football League 2026, with the opening ceremony scheduled for Sunday, 30th August, 2026 at 3:00pm at the Awka City Stadium.
The league, powered by the Anambra State Football Association, ANSFA, and proudly sponsored by Ichie Jim Martin Nwabueze Akubudike of Akubudike Energy Ltd, is billed to commence this August.
Chairman of Anambra FA, Chief Chikelue Iloenyosi, is leading the state FA in driving the competition in partnership with the Anambra State Government and other stakeholders.
Unveiling the goals of the league, ANSFA said the competition is designed to deliver 5 key impacts: Talent Discovery, Youth Empowerment, Community Unity, Grassroots Development, and Creating Opportunities for young players.
According to the FA, the league is aimed at “unearthing tomorrow’s football stars”, building confidence, discipline and leadership through football, and bringing communities together through the beautiful game”.
It also said that the tournament will strengthen grassroots football for sustainable growth while opening doors to scholarships and professional careers for players.
The theme for the 2026 edition is “ANSFA… Pulling the Youth Out of the Streets with the motto Football, Unity Peace, Progress. Together, we grow the game.”
Ichie Jim Martin Akubudike, who is the sponsor of the league, was described as a key supporter of sports development in Anambra.
Football stakeholders in the state have been urged to “Get Prepared” as ANSFA promises an exciting second edition with top clubs, thrilling matches and unforgettable moments.
