The Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices, POCACOV, has engaged government officials, traditional rulers, security agencies and youth groups in Anambra State on strategies to curb cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime and violent extremism.
The Anambra engagement, led by the National Coordinator of POCACOV, *SP Orvenonne Ikwen*, was carried out on the directive of the Inspector-General of Police as part of efforts to strengthen preventive policing in the state.
SP Ikwen reaffirmed the commitment of the IGP to initiatives that discourage crime among young people, noting that policing yields better results when communities, government institutions, parents, schools and faith-based organizations work together to guide and empower youths.
The delegation paid courtesy visits to the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, and the Chairman of Anambra State Traditional Rulers Council, Igwe Chidubem Iweka III of Obosi. It also held interactive sessions with AIG Zone 13, Miller Gajere Dantawaye, youth organizations, security personnel, women groups and other stakeholders.
POCACOV focuses on public enlightenment, value reorientation, mentorship and community involvement to tackle the root causes of crime, especially among young people.
Both the SSG and Igwe Iweka III described POCACOV as proactive and people-centred, and pledged government and traditional support to take the campaign across the state. *Comrade Ken Okoli*, President of ASTUC Youths, was also present at the event.
The Anambra State Police Command urged residents to support POCACOV programmes that promote lawful conduct and positive values, stressing that collaboration remains key to sustaining peace and security in the state.
