The Management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, debunks reports linking the institution to a viral video showing a university personnel allegedly caught in an inappropriate act with a student.
In a press statement signed by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Comrade Aloysius Emeka Attah on Wednesday, July 16, 2026, the university describes the report as “false and misleading.”
According to the statement, after due verification, it is established that the incident does not occur at UNIZIK and the man in the video is not a staff member of the university.
“For the records, no staff or student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University is connected in any way to the said incident,” the statement reads.
UNIZIK says it upholds the highest standards of professional conduct and discipline, with zero tolerance for any form of student exploitation.
The management also condemns the spread of unverified information online, noting that the rush to break news and gain traffic fuels misinformation and damages institutional reputation.
“We urge members of the public, media houses, and online platforms to desist from spreading unverified information and to take immediate steps to retract and correct the publication,” Attah states.
The university further reiterates its open-door policy and urges journalists to always verify facts with appropriate authorities before publication.
