The coordinator of Port Harcourt Arsenal Community, Ugochukwu Oputa, has commended members of the community for their commitment and support in all ramifications.
He equally lauded Arsenal players for their impressive performance in the European Champions League final against PSG on Saturday in Budapest, Hungary, in spite of their loss.
Oputa said this in an interview with sports journalists in Port Harcourt, on Saturday shortly Arsenal loss to PSG on penalties, after playing 1-1 on regulation time.
He advised all Arsenal fans, mostly the members of the community, to put behind Arsenal’s loss to PSG in the finals of the European Champions League.
He stated that it is a game of football in which one side must win, especially in the final competition, saying that Arsenal was up to the game against what people were saying.
The coordinator expressed gratitude to all Arsenal fans for keeping faith in the team, and without relenting, this has demonstrated that Arsenal is a good football club.
“I say this with a sense of gratitude, fulfillment and hope. I want use this opportunity to appreciate members of the community for their commitment and support in all ramification.
“We actually played against the world; to them, Arsenal will be disgraced, but apparently it was not the way they expected. It was also a commendation that this year, we won the Premier League with 7 points after 22 years.
“Consequently, with humility I advise every member to continue having the faith; we are assured to win more trophies next season. Imagine before the watch party we did something no supporters club has done in the history of Port Harcourt.
“We had the most successful and coordinated parade ever. Our watch party recorded over 1000 in attendance. It is because of this that we are hated by rival fans.
” These people envy what we have. Our faith, carriage, and resilience We hoped for a victory, our players gave their best. The officiating went against us. They said PSG will score 4 goals in the first have but the only goal they even scored, was from a penalty” Oputa said.
