Anambra FA Sets June 30 For Board Election, Commends Soludo On Sports Revamp

The Executive Board of the Anambra State Football Association (ANSFA) has fixed Tuesday, June 30, 2026, for its General Election, ahead of the expiration of the current board’s tenure on July 27, 2026.

The decision was reached during a virtual meeting held on May 26, 2026, according to a communiqué issued on May 27 and signed by the communiqué drafting committee led by Mr Ralph Chidozie George.

The Board directed the ANSFA Electoral Committee to begin processes to ensure a credible, transparent, peaceful and acceptable election.

At the meeting, ANSFA also lauded Governor Charles Soludo for his efforts in revitalizing sports in the state, particularly the re-establishment of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports.

The Board believe the move would significantly boost sports development across Anambra.

Members further congratulated Hon. Agha Mba on his appointment as Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, expressing confidence in his ability to advance football and sports development in the state.

The association also celebrated its recognition as the “Best Football Association in Nigeria” by the Nigeria National League (NNL), describing it as a result of collective dedication and unity among football stakeholders in Anambra.

COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AT THE END OF THE VIRTUAL MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE BOARD OF THE ANAMBRA STATE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION (ANSFA) HELD ON TUESDAY, 26TH MAY, 2026*

The Executive Board of the Anambra State Football Association held a virtual meeting on Tuesday, 26th May, 2026, during which critical issues concerning the growth and development of football in Anambra State were deliberated upon. After extensive deliberations, the Board resolved as follows:

1. The Board expressed profound appreciation to the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, for his visionary leadership and giant strides towards the revitalization of sports in the State, particularly through the re-establishment of the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports. The Board noted that this bold initiative will significantly enhance sports development across the State.

2. The Board congratulated Hon. Agha Mba on his well-deserved appointment as the Honourable Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports. The Board expressed confidence in his capacity to advance sports development and foster greater achievements for Anambra athletes and Football development.

3. The Board congratulated the entire football family in Anambra State for the prestigious recognition of the Anambra State Football Association as the “Best Football Association in Nigeria” by the Nigeria National League (NNL). The Board described the award as a reflection of the collective dedication, unity, and commitment of stakeholders towards the advancement of football in the State.

4. With the tenure of the current board ending on the 27th of July 2026, the Board unanimously approved Tuesday, 30th June, 2026, as the date for the General Election into the Executive Board of the Anambra State Football Association.

5. The Board directed the ANSFA Electoral Committee to immediately commence all necessary processes and preparations to ensure a credible, transparent, peaceful, and hitch-free conduct of the election in line with the relevant statutes and regulations.
