Enyimba FC Chairman, Ambassador Kanu Nwankwo, has thanked God, the Abia State Government, stakeholders, supporters and corporate partners for their role in the club’s successful 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League campaign.
Speaking on behalf of the board and management of the nine-time champions, in a media release signed by the Media & Communications Department, Ambassador Kanu said the club was grateful for a season completed without incident.
“Firstly, we give our gratitude to God Almighty for leading us through the league season without accidents or tragic incidents on the road, and we pray for continued success and safety in our remaining President Federation Cup matches,” he stated.
Kanu reserved special appreciation for Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, describing the administration’s backing as vital to the club and to sports development in the state.
“We are highly indebted to His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, whose support throughout the season remained invaluable and encouraging to the team, other sister clubs and sports development which has improved youth development greatly in the state,” he said.
He added that the governor’s investment in infrastructure and youth-focused sports initiatives had set a new standard in Abia. “Indeed, Abia has not seen so good regarding infrastructural development and total commitment towards youth development driven by sports,” the former African Footballer of the Year noted.
The chairman also acknowledged the club’s stakeholders for their guidance during challenging moments, saying their input helped sustain Enyimba’s status as one of Nigeria and Africa’s leading clubs.
He thanked supporters at home and abroad for their loyalty, and singled out the club’s fans for their role in motivating the team throughout the season.
Kanu further applauded Enyimba’s corporate and strategic partners for their continued commitment to the brand, expressing optimism about building on the relationship in the coming season.
The club chairman concluded by calling for unity behind the Enyimba project and pledged that the team would return stronger in 2026/2027.
Enyimba secured their NPFL status on Sunday with a 3-0 win over Elkanemi Warriors on the final day, finishing 11th on 49 points. The Aba side now shifts focus to the President Federation Cup Round of 32 against Gombe United on June 1, 2026.
