Abuja will host top women’s football administrators from West Africa this weekend for a three-day workshop backed by CAF and the WAFU-B zone.

The event, slated for April 26–28, 2026 at Exclusive Serene Hotel and Suites in Wuye, will be run by the Nigeria Football Federation. It brings together women’s football commission heads and department leads from Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Niger Republic, Togo, and Benin Republic.

NFF President and WAFU-B President Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau will open the programme. Also attending are WAFU-B Executive Director Philippe Tchere, CAF Head of Women’s Football Goshime Meskerem, WAFU-B Women Football Commission President Amina Amani, and Women Football Development Manager Precious Dede.

Facilitation will be handled by Meskerem, ex-Super Falcons goalkeeper Dede, and CAF instructors Jules McGeever and Thuba Sibanda.

The workshop will open with discussions on how women’s football has grown in Africa and globally, plus a review of regional challenges, wins, and leadership case studies.

The second day shifts to practical strategy, drawing lessons from the Ghana FA’s planning model and club case studies of Mamelodi Sundowns and ASEC Mimosas. Sessions will also tackle branding and development frameworks for member associations.
