The burial of Madam Regina Ononuju Awogu, mother of sports journalist Felix Awogu, will take place this Friday in Ossomala, Anambra State.

The Ossomala community is gearing up for a big event, with dignitaries from sports and business sectors expected to attend.

The burial ceremony will begin with a vigil mass by 6pm on Thursday 16th April, at her residence.  On Friday 17 April the burial mass will take place at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ossomala by 11.am. Reception follows immediately at Ossomala primary school field.

Madam Awogu, who passed away in February 2026 at 90, was known for her kindness and dedication to her community.

Her son, Felix Awogu, a prominent sports administrator and journalist, is leading the arrangements. He’s General Manager and Head of Outside Broadcast at SuperSport.

The burial is a celebration of a life well-lived, and many are coming to pay their respects to this remarkable woman.

Her life was a testament to service and kindness, and the occasion promises to be a celebration of that legacy.
