The Anambra State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against violent crime with the arrest of a notorious armed robber, Ugochukwu Uzor, during a high-risk operation in Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA) on December 8, 2025.
Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, apprehended the 26-year-old suspect in Iyowa Odekpe, Ogbaru LGA, following a fierce confrontation.
Uzor, a known figure in violent criminal activities, sustained injuries during the operation. Police recovered a locally made Beretta pistol and eleven live rounds of ammunition at the scene.
Described as a hardened criminal, Uzor bears tattoos with the inscriptions “No Forgiveness” and “No Mercy,” reflecting his ruthless disposition.
During interrogation, he confessed to leading multiple criminal gangs operating in Anambra and neighboring states.
He also admitted to his role in the abduction and murder of Hon. Azuka Justice, a member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, on December 24, 2024. The murder of Hon. Justice had caused outrage and condemnation across the state.
In a statement issued on December 10, 2025, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ikenga Tochukwu, highlighted the significance of this arrest in the ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal syndicates within the state.
Mr Tochukwu called on the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime.
The statement also encouraged citizens to report criminal activities confidentially through the control room number 07039194332 or the Police Public Relations Officer’s line at 08039334002.
This arrest marks a critical step in addressing violent crime in Anambra and signals the Police Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents.
