Corps Marshal, Mohammed Orders Construction Firms to Install Road Signage Nationwide

To support President Bola Tinubu’s agenda to transform Nigeria’s road network through extensive construction and rehabilitation projects, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed, has taken a firm step to enhance road safety and efficiency.

According to a Press Release signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, ACM Olusegun Ogungbemide, the Corps Marshal in line with this goal, has issued a clear directive to all construction companies operating on Nigerian roads to ensure the proper placement of adequate road signs at all construction sites.

The Corps Marshal who stated that the directive is to ensure the safety of the motoring public around construction sites, further ordered the companies to install, maintain, and continuously update proper road signage at every active or inactive construction area without exception.

To ensure full compliance, he directed all Commanding Officers across formations to immediately commence strict and effective enforcement of this directive nationwide.

Expectedly, the Corps Marshal emphatically condemned the recurring failure by some construction firms to provide adequate warning, information, and diversion signs around project zones, an omission that places motorists and other road users at serious risk.

He emphasised that this directive is final and enforceable, noting that FRSC field Commands will intensify supervision, and any contractor found violating approved safety standards will face decisive regulatory actions.

Accordingly, the Corps Marshal reaffirmed the determination of the Corps to collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure that the Federal Government’s investment in road infrastructure results in safer, more secure journeys for all road users.
