The Faculty of Education, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam Campus has honoured the Executive Chairman of Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, ASUBEB Awka, Dr. Vera Nkiru Nwadinobi with an award of excellence.

The award presentation which was part of the events marking the 8th International Conference of the Faculty held at the TETFUND Hall, COOU, Igbariam Campus, themed: “Redefining Education in Nigeria: Harnessing AI for Innovation, Equity and Excellence” attracted scholars, captains of Industry, community leaders and students among others.
According to the organisers, the merit award to the ASUBEB boss was for her excellent performance in integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the State basic education system and her numerous efforts in driving quality, equitable, and inclusive education among learners in the State.
Responding, Dr. Nwadinobi commended the Faculty for choosing to focus attention on AI in education, describing their theme as not only apt but critical and trendy at a time when technology has become the global currency.
She noted that the State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR is passionate about digitisation and has done much in integrating AI in the basic education sector with the establishment of Model Smart School, Isiagu in partnership with UBEC, and followed it up with the establishment of 22 Smart Schools in the 21 Local Government Areas of the State to promote digital literacy among Anambra children.
Continuing, the ASUBEB boss stated that the State government in collaboration with UBEC has also trained selected teachers across the State on Multigrade Teaching Method to ensure that no child is left behind in accessing quality and inclusive education.
The event featured academic presentations on the conference theme, cultural display, performances by the students and awards.
