Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in a landslide victory emerged winner in the Anambra State governorship election held on November 8, 2025.

The declaration was made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at their Awka headquarters after collating votes from all 21 local government areas, with Soludo securing a total of 422,664 votes.

Professor Edoba Omoregie, the Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, confirmed that Soludo secured a commanding lead with 422,664 votes, crushing his nearest rival, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who garnered 99,445 votes.

The Young Progressives Party’s candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, trailed in third place with 37,753 votes.

INEC reported that a total of 16 candidates from various parties contested in this keenly watched election.

Out of 2,788,864 registered voters, 598,229 were accredited, and 595,298 votes were cast. However, 11,244 votes were rejected during the exercise.

Remarkably, Soludo emerged victorious in every single one of the 21 local government areas, underscoring his overwhelming popularity across Anambra State.

Professor Omoregie added insight into the process, explaining,

“While some wards experienced disruptions leading to canceled results in parts of Anambra West, Anaocha, Awka South, and Onitsha South, the affected 10,481 votes were insufficient to alter the outcome.

The election was peaceful and transparent throughout.”

Concluding his declaration, the professor stated,

“Having met all legal requirements and captured the highest votes, I hereby declare Chukwuma Charles Soludo the duly elected governor of Anambra State.”

In his acceptance speech, the Governor Re-elect, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo praised the efficiency shown by the INEC and extended a hand of fellowship to his opponents.

He concluded by saying that his going back to work as the people of Anambra “ain’t seen nothing yet”.

With this landslide victory, Soludo is poised to continue shaping Anambra’s future in his renewed tenure.
